Fiction, Facts & Folklore:
White zircon is sometimes associated with the planet Venus, while astrologers link the rare orange-zircon to Rahu, the southern lunar node.
Zircon can be found in a multitude of colors that include blue, red, green, pink, yellow and gold, and a colorless variety of high brilliance.
Zircon has the highest specific gravity rating (density) of any natural gem.
These colors may be natural or heat treated to enhance its clarity & depth of color.
Zircon contains low-levels of radiation, that will sometimes cause its properties to break down. This material can result in a loss of color and brilliance, but poses no health threat to the consumer. This material is commonly known as low zircon.
Early societies considered the colorless zircon more valuable than the diamond.
These same people believed zircon would calm those in anger and restore inner peace in their hearts.
Zircon was once considered to protect its wearer from lightning, intense heat, grief and sadness. It also was believed to ward off evil spirits and nightmares.
